Agents for Students

Ask Steve has a number of Agents that can be useful to students as you try to learn concepts, get editing help with your writing, perform analysis and more. Here's a list of some of them with links to install them. Ask Steve needs to be installed for these links to work.

Note that these Agents can be used on any web page, PDF, YouTube video, spreadsheet, Google Doc (selected text), Google Slide (selected text), and more!

You can easily customize any of these Agents or make your own!

Reading, Learning & Analysis

Summarization & Condensing

• Summarize in 5 bullets and less than 250 words. install
• Generate an in-depth, comprehensive summary of some text. install
• This Agent aids students in their academic studies by identifying and highlighting the most important sentences from various types of academic texts. install
• Read the provided text and extract the Top 3 concepts and describe them. install

Comprehension & Explanation

• Get extra context and definitions on anything that you're reading. install
• Don't understand something? Select any text or page and Steve will explain it to you in clear and understandable language. install
• Don't understand a word or a phrase? Select it and ask Steve to tell you what it means. install

Study & Assessment Tools

• Take the given text and make a 6 question multiple-choice quiz out of it. install
• Create a structured study guide from some text. install
• Given some text, Steve will give you 5 questions that test reader comprehension of it. You can adjust the instructions for different grade levels. install

Critical Thinking & Research

• Analyze text for bias. install
• Give Steve some text and he'll generate pro and con lists for you. install

• Select a statement and Google Gemini will fact check it using Google Search and give you relevant citations. Learn more at https://FreeFactChecker.com.   install

Instructional & Explanatory:

• Ask Steve to teach you how to do something. He'll ask you for the topic. install

Multimedia

• This Agent will show you the metadata and transcript for any YouTube video. install
• Tell Steve what kind of chart you want and he'll try to generate it for you from the selected text or page. install

Writing Assistance

Clarity & Understanding

• Not sure if you're getting your point across clearly? Ask Steve to analyze your writing and see if he understands you. install
• Select any writing and ask Steve to analyze it for clarity, conciseness, logical flow, grammar and punctuation, and word choice. He will provide specific suggestions for improvement. install

Structure & Flow

• Give Steve some text and he'll read it, identify any logical reasoning gaps, and suggest ways to fix them. install
• Ask Steve to create an essay outline. Steve will ask you for the topic, you don't need any information from the page for this. install
• Steve will suggest amendments to the selected text to improve its structure, style and coherence. install
• Got some loose ideas and want Steve to tie them together? install

Rewriting & Style

• Given some text, Steve will present you with a number of different writing styles that he can apply to the text. Pick one and he will rewrite the text in that style. install
• Give Steve some text and he'll give you 15 ways to rewrite it in different styles. install

Editing & Proofreading

• Ask copyeditor Steve to review your writing and suggest edits. install

Idea Generation & Brainstorming

• Generate a list of objections to whatever you're writing so you can think through them and address them. install
• Given an article or document, suggest a title for it. You can change the instructions to make the title more formal, spicier, funnier, etc. install
• Give Steve some text and he will generate 3 analogies for you. Use them to help illustrate your point. If they don't make sense, maybe you're not explaining your idea well. install
• Select the first part of a sentence and Steve will give you 30 options to finish it install
• Steve can suggest some accompanying visuals for whatever you are writing to help spice it up. install

Vocabulary & Word Choice

• Steve will ask you for a word and then give you 10 synonyms for it. install
• That one word you need on the tip of your tongue? Steve will ask you for the concept you're trying to get across and he'll give you up to 5 suggestions for a word that captures it. install

Research & Citation

• Give Steve some text and he'll ask you what you want to know. He'll read the text and give you an answer and cite his sources. install

Data Extraction

Information Clipping & Saving

• This Agent lets you clip either the contents of a page or a short summary of the page to a Google Doc, Notion Page, or other supported service. install

Specific Data Extraction

• Extract dates and description of events in chronological order from a paragraph. install
• Extract direct quotations from this text. install

Citation Generation

• Generate citations in multiple styles from a web page. install
